A major security alert was triggered in Bengaluru on Friday morning after the Regional Passport Office in Koramangala received a chilling bomb threat via email. The mail, sent around 11 am, claimed that suicide bombers equipped with RFID-enabled IEDs would strike the passport office and the Chief Minister’s residence by 3:15 pm.
The sender claimed affiliation with a group called “Viduthalai Puli” and demanded the release of individuals including Savukku Shankar and Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi. The email also bizarrely referenced Ajmal Kasab, claiming that “a thousand Kasabs” would emerge in response to what was called the “illegal” arrest of these individuals.
The message, copied to the Islamabad Police, included communal overtones and alleged that Indian authorities manipulated global sympathy by not trying Kasab as a minor. It also made disturbing claims about new IED mechanisms involving suicide bombers and RFID-based detonation technology.
Police forces quickly responded to the threat, cordoning off the passport office and conducting a thorough search. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and dog squads were deployed as a precaution. Although no suspicious materials were found, security has been tightened across the area, and a probe is ongoing to trace the email source.
